Members of the RAT-SAR team got together for a little Limited Resources Rescue training this past weekend. The training was in preparation for a lightweight rescue class they’re teaching at Southwestern Community College in North Carolina. Some of the skills that will be taught are diminishing loop rescues, breaking into tensioned mainlines, lightweight single rope rigging as an anchor / lower / raise, take down rappels, buddy rappels, traveling hauls, maximizing mechanical advantage for small parties, and the importance of using high directionals to reduce friction.
