About ESEE

Beginning in 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin started down the path of reshaping the manner in which the survival and wilderness industry carried out business. Having become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype often associated with “survival” gear and training, they launched Randall’s Adventure & Training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market.

Working under contract with the Peruvian Air Force’s “Escuela De Supervivencia En La Selva” (School of Jungle Survival), also known by the acronym ESSEL, they introduced many clients to the art of jungle survival in the vast Peruvian Amazon jungle.

After a number of years operating in South America, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high quality field grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives

Their first design was the RTAK made by Wicked Knife Company in Arkansas, and later produced by Ontario Knife Company (OKC). They also developed the TOPS Knives made Laser Strike. After spending five years developing the RAT line for OKC, they launched ESEE Knives.

Today the ESEE brand is known and distributed worldwide. ESEE Knives / Randall’s Adventure & Training clientele ranges from special operations personnel, rescue technicians, hunters, law enforcement, border security, film crews, outdoorsman and professional adventurers. Their courses and gear have been featured on the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel and in numerous movies, books, leading outdoor magazines and trade publications.

The company’s philosophy is simple: treat the customer with respect, keep the prices fair, provide the best in quality, and never teach a skill or provide a piece of gear that hasn’t been tested in the real world.

Every student that walks through the doors of Randall’s Adventure & Training leaves with a set of skills that will stay with them throughout their life. Furthermore, every end-user of an ESEE product knows they are backed by the industry’s best warranty and customer service.

In the world of factory knives, survival gear and wilderness training, ESEE/Randall’s Adventure & Training is one of the only companies where the owners and employees all live the lifestyle of the gear they produce and the training they teach. No suit and tie, just hard-won ground truth that is reflected in some of the world’s best knives, gear and training.

ADVENTURERS •  EXPLORERS •  RESCUERS •  KNIFE GUYS

The ESEE team averages over 100 days in the field each year. Whether it's hiking a mountain peak in Colorado, canyoneering in the red rock country of Utah, teaching survival in the Amazon jungle of Peru, instructing technical rescue courses in austere environments, or hiking and caving in the remote areas of the Southeast, the team is always designing, prototyping and testing new gear and techniques for the extremes of the modern day adventurist.

Search And Rescue

The RAT team are also members of a non-profit SAR organization named after their training company.  RAT-SAR is a non-profit 501(c)3 specialized search, rescue, and training organization based on the lightweight principles of mountain rescue. While Randall's Adventure & Training offers training for RAT-SAR, RAT-SAR is a separate entity from Randall's Adventure and Training and is solely controlled by its Executive Board. Learn more about RAT-SAR, it's mission, and the members by visiting the RAT-SAR website. RAT-SAR does not charge for any search and rescue services performed. Donations to RAT-SAR are tax deductible.
